Physical properties
1. Higher mechanical properties. Zirconia ceramics have a unique stress-induced phase transformation toughening mechanism. The flexural strength can exceed 900MPa, and the fracture toughness is 5-8MPa·m½, which is 2 to 3 times that of commonly used alumina ceramics. It can be used to make 3 to 5 units of posterior teeth. Long bridge restoration.
2. Superior aesthetic effect. Compared with metal materials, zirconia ceramics as the base crown material of restorations has a color closer to natural teeth; compared with glass ceramics, it has a better shading effect on the underlying metal post core and discolored dentin.
Chemical Properties
Zirconia has good biocompatibility, so it is expected to be used as a reliable biological material alone or as a toughening component of other biological materials in the field of oral restoration. This is an incomparable advantage of other all-ceramic materials.
