Planetary ball mills are so named because they work like planets in the solar system, imitating the way planets rotate while orbiting their stars. There is a main disc at the bottom of the working area of the planetary ball mill, called the sun disc. There are two or four hollow bases with evenly distributed positions on the sun disk, and a self-rotating grinding jar is placed in the base, and grinding media can be configured in the grinding jar. When the instrument is working, the sun disk rotates, and the grinding jar above it will revolve at a high speed around the main shaft.
The grinding medium (usually grinding balls) is in direct contact with the sample material in the tank. Under the combined force of the two motion modes, it performs high-frequency impact, strong extrusion and friction, and fully pulverizes and grinds the sample. The particle size of the material reaches the micron level, even hundreds of nanometers.
